1. Physical environment: “The program has a safe and healthful environment that provides appropriate and well-maintained indoor and outdoor physical environments. The environment includes facilities, equipment, and materials to facilitate child and staff learning and development.”
These are climbers I advocated for my toddler room to get. I noticed the children having a hard time with climbing on surfaces they could get hurt on so I asked my director if we could get more age appropriate climbers. By providing my students with these climbers I was able to meet their growing physical needs. This has taught me that by providing children with the things they need any behavior can be managed and improved. This also shows my improved ability to spot what children need and provide them with it. |

2 Families: “The program establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with each child’s family to foster children’s development in all settings. These relationships are sensitive to family composition, language, and culture” (Picture of smart care post)
A way I do this at my job is by making daily posts to a website called smart care. The parents can see pictures of what their child did that day, a description of what they did that day as well as any other updates that they may need to be informed of. By doing this we are establishing and maintaining a collaborative relationship with the parents. This shows that I am able to communicate with parents and is another way for me to keep track of milestones as I have physical pictures of the children carrying out activities.

3 Community Relationships: “The program establishes relationships with and uses the resources of the children’s communities to support the achievement of program goals”
A great example of this is an advocacy project I worked on. One of my major beliefs is that every child and every family deserves to have food security. I was able to show how I can make a realistic plan to fight a issue our families and children face as well as giving myself information to use in the future if any of my students face food insecurity. This establishes a relationship with the community as I am working towards helping to combat a major issue many communities face. Through this project I learned that even small efforts can make a difference and educating on topics such as food insecurity can help communities want to reach out and make a difference for their families and children. |
