Bathroom times can vary as the children do not always have to use it at the designated time frames. Greeting/ arrival time: As students arrive, greet them and their guardians with a smile and excitement of seeing them. Have tabletop toys out for the children to explore as they wait for all their classmates to arrive. Bathroom: Once all students have arrived for the day, take all students to use or try to use the restroom. Breakfast: After using the restroom have the children find seats in the meal area to sit down for breakfast. While they eat, sit with them, talk about what they did the night before, what they look forward to doing that day. Bathroom/ get ready for outside: After eating, have the children go to the restroom and wash their hands and or use it if they need to. Once they have finished up begin helping them get ready for outside or oversee as they get themselves ready. Outside time: Outside time should be thirty minutes to an hour. Play with and interact with the children as they explore the playground. Large group time: Once inside, gather the children in the large group area. This is the time when you can review things like what day it is, what the weather is like, as well as sing, dance or do other large group activities. More large group activities include things like reading stories, singing songs, or games. Large and small group times should be planned around your students’ growths, needs, and interests. These times is also when art and music exploration should be happening. Small group time: Split into small groups and work on the activity/ lesson for the day. Small group time activities should consist of things that the students need more growth on. You can use the observations and anecdotal notes you have previously taken to create these lessons or activities. At the end of small group time, you should begin the plan do review process. All the children will have the ability to tell you what their plan for work time is. Bathroom: Another bathroom break can be taken before work time is started. Work time: Allow the children to do what their had planned during small group time. This time should be used for exploring the different centers in the room, playtime with classmates and the teachers. Lunch time: After worktime has concluded, wash hands and get ready for lunch. At lunch time have the children sit at tables with their small groups. Each teacher should sit with their small groups, this is the time for review. As you wait for lunch to be prepared or served, each child can go around and talk about what they did during work time and what they enjoyed so far about the day. Bathroom: Another bathroom break so children can wash hands and use and or try to use the restroom before nap or rest time. Naptime: Naptime is time for the children to take a nap or rest their bodies and have quite time. This is a big chunk of the day as it is usually an hour to two and a half hours. Snack time: Once the children have woke up from nap and have used the bathroom, they can sit at the meal area and have a small snack. Outside time: The second outside time of the day. This again should be thirty minutes to an hour. Work time: Once the children come back inside, lots of them have probably left for the day and there is only an hour or two before final pick up. They can use this time to have free play, explore the centers, play games, or do art projects. Pick up time: At final pick-up time, talk with parents about the child’s day, wish them and the children a goodnight!
